Valentines

We had the best intentions of making homemade cookies for our fabulous teachers! Unfortunately, I ran out of a vital ingredient so we had to rely on a roll of store bought sugar cookie dough stashed in the fridge. The cookies, after baking, did not look as pretty as they did before we put them in the oven. Oh well. The kids enjoyed making, decorating and eating them!Instead, the teachers will receive a basket of store bought candy, wrapped lovingly with a special, homemade tag!
I also put together these treat bags for our wonderful service coordinators and various staff members. For our classmates, I used the Sweet Centers stamp set and Sweet Treat Cups. Greg stamped the back of each one, wrote all of his friends and therapists names, then signed them appropriately (upper and lowercase letters). Leah left her signature as well.
We're all set for our Valentine's Day parties! Hopefully, the snow will let up and the kids will have school on Thursday!

Spouse Group Meeting

I was finally able to make it to a spouse meeting! I don't attend very often because I don't like to take the kids to adult only events. However, I organized the stamping we had planned for the night and couldn't miss it! Eric was working nights at the hospital (where the meetings are held) so he let Greg hang out with him for a couple of hours while Leah stayed with the girls.
Leah has really been loving dressing up in tutus and necklaces. She cried when I took her tutu off before the meeting, so I let her wear it. At least I changed her bow to match!

Health Updates

We received a call from the Down Syndrome Clinic with Leah's blood test results. Her thyroid levels are elevated for the second time. We've opted to retest in a month then see an endocrinologist if needed.

Leah's ears are once again impacted with wax. In addition, she's failed her last two hearing tests (one at Childrens Hospital and another at school) so she is scheduled for surgery on March 18. Of course, Dr. Pema will replace tubes if needed. He will also recheck her adenoid area to make sure there hasn't been any regrowth.

As far as my back is concerned, I saw a wonderful doctor last week. It looks like I have a disc that is compressing a nerve, which has been causing the excruciating pain in my buttock and down my left leg (TMI?). In addition to the exercises he gave me, I am now taking a steroid treatment. I am totally blaming it for the mood swings and hot flashes!

Little Hoop Stars

We signed Greg up for Little Hoop Stars Basketball through Jump Start Sports. It takes place on Saturday mornings over a period of seven weeks. He's learning the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. It's quite amusing, to say the least! Greg is quite the entertainer! If I could only upload video...It's much more difficult to keep Leah entertained in a gym than on a soccer field. She wants to be on the floor with all the other kids! This was a great week for me because Eric worked Friday night and was able to go with us Saturday morning!

Well Check Stats

Sorry folks. I hurt my back awhile ago and it's getting worse. Sitting at the computer just about kills me so blogging isn't going to be a regular thing anytime soon. However, I took the kids to the doctor for their yearly well checks today and thought I would post the basics.

GREG

40" (5th percentile)
34 lbs (25th percentile)
LEAH
32" (3rd percentile)
25 lbs (5th percentile)
After their appointments, I took Leah to have several routine blood tests and lateral cervical spine x-rays (flexion and extension). The results will take a couple of days to get back to the doctor's office, but there are a few perks to having a radiologist as a Daddy! Eric called me within an hour with the results. NORMAL!
